Dan Tarlow Website
Profile
Project Information
Additional project details
- Problem
- Attorney Dan Tarlow asked me to develop an interactive website for his legal services. He wanted user friendly features to make services accessable to a wide range of visitors. The layout was designed to work great on all devices and screen orientations. I built the phone call feature with JavaScript - first checking the users local time zone then comparing it to the companies open close hours - the site content is then built according to those variables
- Solution
- Design and develop a responsive site that makes getting access to reputable bankruptcy specialists an easy task. Create powerful, simple to use features that are shown dynamically (only appear during business hours)
- Deliverables
- Research Plan, User Personas, User Journey Map, Problem Statement, User Flow Diagram, Wireframes, Usability Test Results
- Role
- UX Designer, Web Developer & Designer
- Skills
- User Research, Web Development & Design, Interaction Design
- Duration

Application Journey
Personas & User Flow
I started by identifying the type of visitors the site will have and how they will use the app. Here is an overview of the user personas and the three main parts I broke things into:
User Personas
Based on my research from the vistor types and their goals, I created three personas. Kevin Haggerty is a lawyer in search case resources. Leslie and Lenore are business owners that seek a bankruptcy specialist.
Research
User Pain Points
I started this project by interviewing several lawyers in attorney Tarlows Office. They wanted a way for clients to contact them on their preferred platform. Depending on the time of day, the ideal method of contact changes. These were the major problems I identified during the user research:
- • Users have difficulty finding a reputable attorney
- • Too much time is wasted looking through search engine results
- • Users seek news stories written by attorneys in the bankruptcy field
- • Seek a simple to use interface for non technical users
- • Most businesses in this space dont offer podcasts
- • Users want fast results after reaching out to the team

Various user experience design examples including wireframes, prototypes, motion design, typography and more
Planning
Sitemap
After talking to the client and considering the user personas, I worked on the information architecture of the app. The proficiencies and shortcommings of the users & personas dictated how to design the application.
Testing
Site Usability
To learn what users thought of the application, I created a Figma Prototype from my wireframes. I used Google Meetup to video conference with my client and several users to learn how to improve the application. Here is what I discovered:
Contacting Attorneys
On mobile, users preferred an input where they could get a call back from an attorney as opposed to a contact button
Safety Notice
The site was launched during the height of the pandemic. As a result, users wanted to know the safety protocols in place
Finding Resources
Users said that they could not tell there were podcasts on the site. They did not notice the podcast button initially
Iterations & Improvements
After learning what could be improved upon, I prioritized the changes to make and got back to my designs.
Several improvements were made to the application:
Full stack developer, researching and utilizing cutting edge web technologies. I am a hard worker and dedicated to my craft - I have a good sense of humor and work well with other creative professionals. I have an open mind, a positive attitude and always seek to improve my skillset.
